Ensembles Cultivating Creativity Through Music

Ensembles

Playing with others in an ensemble is both a learnable skill and a lot of fun. Share an exciting new music experience with your friends in a more intimate chamber music setting. Polish your individual skills learned in private lessons, sight-read new music, learn how to listen to others, and have a good time doing it. We offer chamber music (duos, trios, and quartets), guitar, and jazz ensembles.

Bring Your Musicianship To The Next Level

Students are not only making friends but also learning from each other and mastering their instrument skills. There are many reasons to join an ensemble: opening new creative horizons, building confidence, and improving communication skills, to name a few.

But most importantly - it is a lot of fun. So why wait? Join one of our ensembles today! Please contact us for placement recommendations.

Jazz Ensemble

Jazz is synonymous with imagination, improvisation, and collaboration. This program allows students to explore their creativity through standard jazz songs and is open to students of all instruments, voice, and skill levels. The program will feature music from different eras of jazz, including Swing, BeBop, Blues, and more. It is a great opportunity for students to develop their unique sound on their instrument while learning great songs from Duke Ellington, Charlie Parker, and Thelonious Monk, among others.  Pianists will explore common chord voicings, and all instrumentalists will learn different ways to navigate through chord changes with ear training and knowledge of the fundamentals of music. Whether having years of experience playing jazz or just starting out, this course will help build confidence in exploring new music and improvising freely, it will be a fun experience for everyone.

Format: Each ensemble meets bi-weekly for 60 min.

Chamber Group

As Wikipedia puts it: "Chamber music is a form of classical music composed for a small group of instruments—traditionally a group that could fit in a palace chamber or a large room." Chamber music is often described as "the music of friends."  Playing in the chamber group is one of a student's most memorable musical experiences. Being a member of an ensemble develops leadership and interpersonal skills and opens up new possibilities for advancement, enjoyment, and the opportunity to play with friends.

The Sharon Music Academy chamber ensemble program provides weekly instruction for intermediate to advanced strings, winds, and piano players. The program consists of weekly coachings, guest master classes, special events, and performances. Groups are created based on age, ability, and instrumentation.

Playing in the ensemble is a team endeavor. Everyone depends on everyone else. So, all students accepted into the program must commit for the entire length of the program during a school year and continue to study privately on their instruments.

Format: The ensemble meets once a week for 60 min.
