Paulo studied at Berklee College, where his teachers included famous musicians such as Bill Pierce, George Garzone, Jerry Bergonzi, and Charles Banaccos. He toured extensively around the world, including performances in London with Ronnie Scott´s Jazz Group and in Paris at the famous Caveau de la Huchette, and he toured Brazil with singers Gwen Leathers and Karin Parker. With his own quartet, Paulo performed across the US, toured France and Switzerland, and made many appearances on TV and radio shows in Brazil.  He has recorded several albums. One of them in cooperation with Jerry Bergonzi. Paulo also works as an instructor for Berklee College of Music City Music Outreach Program. He has two published jazz CDs.
