Bio

Christopher Nelson is a freelance violinist that has performed in venues across the United States from Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles to Symphony Hall in Boston. Since moving to Boston in the summer of 2024 he has performed with the Boston Philharmonic Orchestra, Boston Festival Orchestra, Atlantic Symphony, Cape Ann Symphony, and Du Bois Orchestra. Christopher has been a participant at numerous summer festivals including the Taconic Chamber Music Intensive, Round Top Festival Institute, National Repertory Orchestra, the Madeline Island String Quartet Fellowship Program, and the Aspen Music Festival. He has a bachelor’s degree in violin performance from Chapman University’s Hall-Musco Conservatory where he was a Henri Temianka Scholar and holds a master’s degree from the Bitó Conservatory of Music at Bard College. His previous teachers have included William Fitzpatrick, Moni Simeonov, Daniel Phillips, Carmit Zori, Robert Becker, and Gail Mellert. Christopher is a major proponent of the music of Dmitri Shostakovich and seeks every opportunity to share or reference his music.

He is a passionate and a devoted violin instructor excited to share his love of the instruments with his students.
