Jazz Improvisation and Composition Workshop

This week long intensive group course introduces students to the art and science of jazz improvisation. The students will learn their role in a typical jazz combo setting while learning the basics of improvisation; how to read jazz charts, simple chords, how to play in a group; "trading" (jazz's musical conversation) and taking solo's. Students will also learn about jazz style and swing through exercises and listening. They will build confidence and creativity while learning tunes. At the end of the week long session students will record their newly learning tunes as a group and each student will be able to take home their own CD with his or her first jazz performance recording. All instruments are welcomed.

There is also an opportunity to learn jazz improvisation in a private lesson setting.

Singing in the Sun

No matter what age, we can help kids find their own tune. This summer we are introducing two summer programs—”Disney Tunes” (for 8-9 years old) and “Road to Broadway” (for 10-12 years old). Each program consists of 8 group one-hour weekly lessons. The students will learn the foundations of good singing technique, including proper breathing and singing in a relaxed, natural fashion with their voice. They will learn basic musicianship: how to follow a piece of music even if they don't quite know how to read sheet music yet; basic note names and rhythms, and musical symbols. They will also learn easy harmonies and how to sing as a member of a group (listening skills). At the end of the program the students will have a graduation recital. The size of the groups is limited to 6 students. Please contact us for days and times of the lessons.

Music Takes You All over the World

Sharon Music Academy is not just our students’ gateway to music but it is also their gateway to the world and its culture. Through our affiliation with an extensive network of international music camps in Europe and the US, we provide a unique opportunity to learn from the best musicians in the world. By attending these camps our students get a chance to make new friends, advance their music education, learn about new cultures, and see the world.
