Playing Extravagantly
How do you need to play at Piano Extravaganza Festival Competition to be noticed? Of course, extravagantly! That is exactly what the students of the Sharon Music Academy Catherine Song, Andrew Song and Xinlan Li did at the University of Rod Island Piano Extravaganza Festival Competition on March 11th, 2007. Catherine Song (age 10) received a reward for the “Most Sensitive Interpretation” of a music piece. Andrew Song (age 9) was awarded a special prize for the “Greatest Perseverance”. Xinlan Li (age 13) became a recipient of the “Most Impressive Fingers” award with a special comment from the judges – “A strikingly beautiful performance!”
There are as many music competitions as sport games and there are as many aspiring young musicians as young sportsmen. Music competitions are also as fierce as any contact sport game. That’s why any award is so valuable - it requires perseverance, dedication and ability to perform under pressure. Congratulations to all young musicians, who have demonstrated all these qualities at the Festival.
For many years Sharon Music Academy has been bringing high quality music education to local residents and has many programs for children and adults to experience music in many different forms and ways. For more information please visit www.sharonmusicacademy.com or call (781)784-9079.
