We have a Winner!
Actually, we have many winners in March. March usually opens a competition and recital season. The first competition this year was a traditional Piano Extravaganza at URI. Our students demonstrated competitive spirit and brought home several awards: Christopher Chen—”Best Overall” award, cash prize and a comment “ College level performance”, Kevin Lee—Ravel Award; Isabelle Ng—Beethoven Award; Sophie Tollefson— Schubert Award; Angelique Scully—Schumann Award; Kunwoo Shin—Horowitz Award. All participants received raving evaluations from the judges.
Not only our students participated in competitions this March but our instructors competed as well. Yelena Berieyeva, our piano instructor, received a second prize and $10,000 at the prestigious Hilton Head International Piano Competition. She won this honor competing against more than 120 best young professional pianists from all over the world.
Many of our students took part in the auditions for the American Fine Arts Festival. We’ve been told by the judges that almost all of the students of the Sharon Music Academy had passed audition and will be giving an opportunity to play in the finale of the American Fine Arts Festival in New York. Festival venues include Carnegie
Hall, Merkin Hall and Concert Hall at the German Cultural Ceneter.
Congratulations to all our winners!
