Sharon Music Academy Newsletter
March 2015

Dear Students, Parents and Friends of the Sharon Music Academy,
The spring is here and we invite you to celebrate this with our annual Musical Gala. Every spring the faculty of the Sharon Music Academy and local musicians donate their time and talent to support a charitable cause. Over the years the musical Gala Event has supported many worthy causes, from the Children of Chernobyl Relief Fund to Young Promise  International Children Foundation.  Last year the funds raised at this event played the crucial role in production of “Carnival of the Animals” by Camille Saint-Saëns. This production gave many young musicians a unique experience of playing with an orchestra and professional musicians.

Those who have attended previous concerts of the SMA Faculty or have seen them on Sharon Cable would definitely like to attend this concert. Please join us in support of local musicians and music education while enjoying world class music performances. Listen to wonderful music played by instructors of the Sharon Music Academy and learn from the best. Don’t miss this entertaining and educational opportunity right here in Sharon! Please mark your calendars – Saturday, March 28th, 5 pm, First Baptist Church in Sharon, 2 South Main St.
Gala Event also includes a silent auction of goods and services offered by many local businesses. And if you have anything of value and want to donate it for an auction to support this wonderful cause, please contact Sergey as soon as possible. Every small donation counts!

We hope to see you at the concert!

Music in the summer

As you know, music never stops. As well as learning and enjoying music. When musicians of any level stop learning music they always regress. So, it is very important to find time during summer for at least a couple of lessons. Summer is also a great time to meet other members of the faculty and to try a new instrument. We also offer several week-long workshops in the summer to explore various music avenues.  Please don’t miss a May 15th deadline and register for summer lessons and programs.

We are also planning several field trips in the summer. Tanglewood concert is always a great experience.
On Saturday, August 22nd John Williams will conduct his famous movie pieces. SMA will chart a bus if there is enough interest.  On August 14th we are planning a field trip to a violin maker. Sign-up sheets for both events will be available in the hall.

I would teach children music, physics, and philosophy; but most importantly music, for the patterns in music and all the arts are the keys to learning .”
