Music Theory, Harmony and Composition

How does music work? This course is dedicated to stimulating creativity and deepening understanding and appreciation of music. It is also a part of our Academy’s complete music education curriculum. The knowledge of harmony will allow students for a greater insight into the repertoire they study, thus making their practice time more fun and efficient. Compositional games and techniques will stimulate their creative powers and encourage creation of original pieces of music. In short, music is a foreign language that your child is mastering. To be fluent at it, they not only have to be able to read it (play notated pieces) but also speak in it (write and understand how music works) - that's the objective of the course. Please read an article "How do I benefit from music theory course?" for more information.

"Disney Tunes" and "Road to Broadway" Group Voice Programs

Everybody loves to sing. Especially kids. We can help them find their own tune. We are offering two group voice programs—”Disney Tunes” (for 8-9 years old) and “Road to Broadway” (for 10-12 years old). At these one hour weekly lessons students will learn the foundations of good singing technique, including proper breathing, singing in a relaxed, natural fashion with their voice. They will also learn basic musicianship: how to follow a piece of music even if they don't read music; basic note names and rhythms, and musical symbols. In addition the students will learn easy harmonies, and how to sing as a member of a group (listening skills). At the end of the program the students will have a graduation recital. The size of the groups is limited to 8 students. Please contact us for days and times of the lessons.

Ear Training

Many people associate musicians with "playing by ear", being able to improvise or recreate a melody once heard and being able to play it on the piano. We all know that a good ear is a must for a good musician. Ear training course will enable students to hear much deeper, recognize chord progressions, allow them to play and transcribe the melodies that they just heard and will increase their musical perception and awareness immensely.

Music History / Music Appreciation

We have special programs for young musicians and for adult music lovers. We'll be listening to music from different time periods, get familiar with composers and their lives. We'll find out how music that we now call "classical" was being formed, what were the first reactions of people to what we know consider "masterpieces". We'll discuss the sonata and other major forms in music so that the listener is more aware and understands the music better.

Instruments Exploration

Unsure what instrument to choose? This program gives you an opportunity to try piano, violin, guitar and flute. Learn the history of each instrument, listen to the famous performers and try playing. Then decide.

Guitar Ensemble

Share an exciting new music experience with your friends in a more intimate chamber music setting. We have  an electrifying repertoire that incorporates different musical genres which range from classical to jazz and more contemporary styles.  Polish your individual skills learnt in private lessons, sight read new music and having a good time.
